David G you make good comments, however rather than housing why not a budget hotel holiday inn express or Premier Inn. This way the hotel would have the foot traffic from people staying and the odd person wanting to nip out for a pint / meal   With all the business down here and a totel room for £50 a night and the huge carpark to build why would it not work, we have enough flats down here anyway!

Waterfront pub
Well still amazed Enterprise Inns has done nothing to get the Waterfront pub back in business - do they not realise that they need to reduce the lease as some incentive for the next tenant/manager .If they dont it will soon be in a state of disrepair again .Pesto restaurants just wont work ,what you need is the traditional carvery with options for currys and vegetarian meals similar to the Ribble Pilot or the Pig and Whistle - these pubs are always busy .We are in Lancashire not some seaside foriegn resort ! I realise Enterprise Inns need to make profit but come on you guys give some incentive then maybe we could have a nice eating place with some entertainment on once a week - Preston Council should also be doing more to encourage the docks to flourish - who wants to sit at home supping cans from Morrisons ???
